SUPPOSED LOSS OF THE SCHOONER BONNIE LASS.

The Press s»ys that all hopes of ever seeing Iho Bonnie Lass again are now given up. She left Lyttelton on April 4th for Hokitika, since which time nothing has been heard 'or seen of her, with the exception of being sighted by the bripantino Prosperity during a gale on the sth. According to the Taranaki papers some pirtioni of a wreck picked up at the Eaikouras, are said to be those of the missing vrisel ; but this is hardly likaly, as there was no mention made of it m the Wellington p*.peri, and the owner of the schooner has heard nothing about it. The Bonnie Lass w.is laden with general produce, and m the nvent of her being water-logged she would at once founder. Some hope was felt that she might hare taken shelter from the gale m some friendly nook along with other vessels which were missing at the time, but as these turned up one after another, all liopei of thn schooner* safety were dispelled, and it was then thought that she had gone to that bourne whence no traveller returns. The Bonnie Lass w«s owned by Mr D. Gilbortton, of Nelson, and was allowed to be one of the finest vessels running on the New Zealand coast. She was commanded by Captain Aitken, a skilful sramun, and her chief officer, who was known by the name of "Bob," served on board the Anchor Line of Steam Packeti for a long time. The names of the reit of the crew are unknown. The Mail learns that the vessel was uninsured.
