The Corporation have bought the Gas VforKs for about £40,000. • They will also pay preliminary expenses incurred by the proposed new Gas Company, the formation of which will now be abandoned. Grahahstown, August 26. The first return from the Welcome Company, Waite Kauri, ..Ohinemuri, wa3 brought down to-day. -It was 151 ozs., crushed out of 58 tons. The result is eminently satisfactory, being] regarded asan'assurance of a great; future for the I I district.
