WAIMATE ROAD BOARD.

Tho Board met on Monday lust. Prpsent: Messrs M. Studliolme, (chairman), Adeline!!, Manchester, and Parker. The minutes of the previous mesting were read and confirmed. Tlie following correspondence, was read : — From the Secretary for Public Works acknowledging receipt of letter of Sept. 19. relative to the grant payable to the Waimatr Koud Board, and forwarding vouchers for contract works under Pnyment of Provinces Act, to the amount of £456, the balance of the grants now due ; and stating that the sum of £837 10» referred to m (he first part of the

lettpr, ns well as the balance of the erant under the Act übovo quoted £453 10s for mam roads soulh of the Kangilata, were paid to the credit, of the Board at the Bank of New Zealand, Timnru, on the 12th inst. From the sunie, advising and forwarding a set of account books for the use of the Board. From John Horgan, asking for the appointment of pound keeper. The following lenders were opened and considered for the erection ol a public pound nt. Waimate :— Jolin Wilson £45 ; L.Tooher? £41 15s; Kann and Schmidt £40, (accepted.) Proposed by Mr Parker, Feconded by Mr Studhnlme and curried— "That the Wnimate Road Board respectfully petition the Provincial Council to allocate the money voted by Council for works m the Wai mute district, viz, LSOOO for bridging the Pureora, LSOOO for brid»ing the Wnihou, and L3OOO to the Waimate railway, to the currying out of one work ; as the individual votes are too small for Hip completion of each, and the Board would recommend the money to be spent on a bridge orer t he Pareora as being the work of most benefit to the district." Resolved — •' That the Chairman and Mr Manchester be authorized to pay monies on the Engineer's certificate for last month." The Board then adjourned to the second Saturday m November.
