GERALDINE ROAD BOARD.

A meeting of the above Board was held at the Clarendon Hotel, on the ] lth instant. Present : Dr. Rayner (Chairman), Messrs. Slack, W. K. Macdonald, Gosling, and Hayhurst. The minutes of the last meeting were read and confirmed. A letter from Mr. Robert Taylor was read, asking leave to make a cutting on the main line of road through the township of Geraldine. Acceded to, subject to the approval of the Engineer. The subject of the overflowing of the Mill Creek was very freely discussed, when it was resolved, " That as the subject was one of very great importance, the opinion of the Provincial Solicitor be obtained." Mr. Rae, Marshall's Ferry, Rangitata, attended the meeting to ask for any information relating to the old Ferry, at Wards. The Board suggested he shonld send his application to the Secretary for Public Works. The question of a track through a point of Peel Forest, near the Hon. Francis Jollic's, having been brought before the Board, it was resolved, "That tendersbe advertised for that work, m accordance with the specification of the Engineer. Tenders to besent m, addressed to the Chairman, on or before the 2nd of July next." The Eagiueer's monthly report wa3 read and approved of. Resolved, "That the Chairman insert an advertisement m the Timaru Herald, that all rates due to this Board be paid on or before the 2nd July next, to prevent legal proceedings." ' The following tenders fer metalling 16 chains of the Mill Eoad were received, namely : — J. H. Dean, at 4s. per cubic yard; Edward Smith, 3s 9d do ; Alex. M'Bratney, 2a 6d do. The tendei of Alex. M'Bratney was accepted. The following cheques were passed for payment : — Engineer and Clerk's quarter's salary £75; monthly pay sheet £12 Is ; Alex. M'Bratney, for metalling 16 chains on Mill Road, £40. The Meeting adjourned to the first Monday m July. ■
