Look to your rugged, muddy roads, Your bungled store, and dangerous beach ! Think on your money gone m loads. To satisfy each Christchurch leech ! Think of the taxes to be collected ! In a week or two you have to pay Mure money — be it recollected — For the cursed northern railway. Do you wish to have your best lands gone ? Do you wish to see your money spent ? The Christchurch people pick the bone, Whilst you must keep perpetual scent. Surely now, when they demand Still more from your o'ertaxed strength ; When, having got money, they would have land: Surely ye will arouse at length !
