The object of the promoters of this Company are to meet the requirements of the increasing trade between the various ports North and South of Dunedin, and to form a regular line of communication between Dunedin, M«lyn«ux, Invcrcargill, and Riverton, on the South ; mid Oamaru, Timaru, and Lyttelton, on tin; North. It is proposed to have two (irst-class steamers (screw) built, with carrying capacity, one of 150 and the other of 250 tons, and comfortable accommodation for passengers. The smaller one for the .Southern trade and the larger one for the Northern trade ; the former to be built m Sydney and the Latter on the Clyde. The smaller one could be built and running m about four or five months, and the larger m about eighb or ten months. • It is also purposed to take over the river steamer " Tuapeka" at a valuation, to run on the Molyneux m conjunction with the Southern steamer. More than three-fourths (3-4ths) of the capital has already been subscribed, and taken up principally by Merchants and others directly interested m the trade of the various ports.
