CHURCH EXTENSION.
A meeting of Parishioners was held m the vestry of St. Mary's church on Weduesday last. The following gentlemen were present ; lieu. G. Foster, Dr. Butler, Messrs. Belfield, Buswick, Cardale, Cooper, Fendall, florton, Luxinoore, Turnbull, Williamson and Woollconibe. Key. G. Foster took the chair. The Chairman briefly stated the object of the meeting. The subject for consideration was what steps should be taken for raising funds for the enlargement of the Church which was admitted on all hands to be desirable if not absolutely necessary. In reply to a question by Mr. Belfield, the chairman stated that it was believed the cost would be about a thousaud pounds, which would as far as he could judge furnish about a couple of hundred additional sittings. Mr. Bel Held then moved " That it was desirable to enlarge the present Church, and that a committee be formed consisting of the whole of the gentlemen then present for the purpose of endeavouring to collect subscriptions toward the above object. Five to form a quorum." Seconded by Dr. Butler and carried. After some considerable discussion it was resolved that the Committee meet on Monday next at 11 a. m. to arrange preliminaries. A vote of thanks to the Chairman terminated the meeting.
