GERALDINE ROAD BOARD.

A meeting of the above Board was held at the Nugget Hotel, on the 4th inst. Present— Messrs. Cox, (Chairman), Wood, Hayhurst, and Dr. Rayner. The minutes of last meetiug having been read and confirmed, a letter was read from the Secretary for Public Works, requesting to know the name of the place appointed by the Board for the revision of the ratepayers* roll. It was resolved that the Chairman be requested to answer this communication, and to state that the Board had appointed the Court House, at the township of Arowhenua, for the above purpose. A memorial signed by Mr. Parkerson, and twenty other residents and owners of land m the Pleasant Valley, requesting that a road com. mencing at the Nugget Hotel, passing at the back of Mr. Dines 1 section, and thence m a direct line to the Valley, may be reserved. The matter was referred to the District Road Surveyor for his opinion. The letter from the Secretary for Public Work^ dated Juiie 11, was considered, and the Chairman was instructed to furnish answers to the several queries contained m the letter. The Board then proceeded to consider the letter from Mr. Williamson, entered m minutes of last meeting, offering his professional services as District Engineer, &c, for the sum of £350 per annum. In reference to -which it was resolved that the offer be accepted, and that the arrangement should commence from the Ist inst; It having been represented by the District Engineer that certain small works, such as the repair and renewal, m certain cases, of culverts on the road, over which considerable traffic is carried on, are immediately necessary, the Board gave authority to the District Engineer to employ labor to the amount of £20. In reference to the wire suspension bridge* proposed by Megson & Co., over the Timuka, the Board directed Mr. Megson to consult with the District Engineer on the subject;
