" Herald Office," Timaru, Friday Evening. We notice tliat one of the largest stores m Timarw has recently changed hands, Mr. J. J). Macpherson having purchased the stock and premises of Mr. Beswick. We understand, however, that Mr. Beswick will continue to dirty on his auction and agency business at his new premises. The first auction that has been held m Timaru, •with any pretentions to a market sale, took place on fche4thinst., at the yards of Messrs. Stubbs and King ; but owing to the short notice given, there was a small attendance of buyers. Messrs. Stubbs and King have determined on holding regular market sales for stock, produce* &c. t thereby offering facilities to buyers and sellers which have not hitherto existed m Timaru i*ud which have for some time been required. The following is a list of the Timaru Retail Prices Current :— Sugar, Cd. to Sd. per lb. ; tea 3s. to 3s. 3d. ; !coffae, Is.
