Mr. E, G. ieuiuue, a cuiiiiiduie for the city, aadresseu a puuriy-uweiiued meeting at the iheaire Royal last night;, iie said lie - stood outright iu the Liberal interest, without any qualification, but ireeiy criticised the bovevnmont, He spoke strongly on fair federation, regretting it had not been made a plank of the platform in the coming election. -He received a vote of thanks, preferring to leave confidence to. the ballot-box. Mr. R. E. Hornblow addressed, a fairly attended meeting at the Skating Rink last night. He indicated that on the whole he . was a strong supporter of the Government. He thought the majority of the labor organisations at Wellington were selfseeking and lacking of purity in their methods. Ho urged the question of federation be submitted to the referendum. Ho was accorded a unanimous vote of thanks and confidence.
Mr. A. R, Atkinson had a large meeting in tho Opera Houee. He spoke strongly against the Government, and indicated the purify of administration was one of his principal planks. Tho meeting at times was rather rowdy. He got a vote of thanks and confidence in himself and the other two candidates, which was carried by a large majority.
