Election Validation. -A telegram was read from Mr W, T. Glasgow, Wellington, as follows:- " Governorin«Council has validated the election of Mr William Doeblo to be member of Harbour Board."—Eecoived,

Accident Insurance.—A letter was received from' the mariager of the New Zealand Accident Insurance Company acknowledging receipt of £17 10 s being the premium on a policy of insurance for £1000 insuring ihe i. ounty. workmen against accident, Electoral.—l£. Howe asked to have liis uame inserted on the Wdiotuhi Electoral Roll in place of Mr H Lang, the former owner of. the house He had purchased. —Joseph Windsor also made a similar requesr.—Eeferred to the Clerk to attend to. Terrace Street.—A letter from Mr Hawes drawing attention :o the state of' Terrace street, was referred to the 'nuineer'. • "Valuation Expenses.—The Taker-Gener-.l imituaied that the Minister for Lands had decided to reduce the cost of the recent valuations from one third to about oue-fifth of the total cost. The Minister thought this reduction would"remove any sense of injustice which has been expressed by a few local authorities."- Keoeivcd.

Working Uut Rates.—An applica. tion from Win. Vercoe to be allowed to work out his rates was loft to the Engineer to deal with. Whangamata West Eoad.-The Under Secretary for Mines asked to be supplied with a tracing oi the district showing the looality of the Whanga. mata West Road, for which a subsidy had been applisd, and also for an estimate of the proposed expenditure thereon.—Engineer to supply the re« quired information. Silas Extended.—The Mines Department forwarded a reply to the Council's letter of the 14th lost., in which it was stated that the Receiver of Gold Revenue had been directed to accept the relative proportions of rent due by Mrs Bloonihall and. Mr Bamford respectively on the Silas Extended special claim, and to give those persons receipts for the amounts they paid. This, however, would not exempt the other shareholders from their liabilities.—Received.

Road Metal.—The General Manager of Railways (Mr T. Ronayne) wrote stating that the subject of delivery ol metal at the various stations on the railway line within the Thames County was being inquired into. A reply would be sent at an early date.— Received.

Orosbie's Road,—The Mines Department notified that a grant of £50 had been authorised towards the cost of - constructing Crosbie's Settlement Road. -Received.

Augustus Street,—Mr H. D, M, Hazard drew attention to the necesbuy of having something done to the footpath iu Augustus street, near Hape Creek, before the wet weather set in. After every shower it was "ankle deep in mud."—Rwferredto the Engineer with power to act, Contractors.—'ihos. Asher asked for £4 extra on his contract price for Upper Tararu No. 3. He stated that he had paid that sum for rooting out large stumps from the back of the batter, and which, if allowed to remain, would have brought down several tons of dirt on the road at the first rain, whioh would have cost the Council muoh more to remove—J. Leaiham also asked for some extra allowance on his contract.—TheOouncil decided that no extras could be granted, on the motion of the Onairman, seoouded by Or Boss,
