Thero was beautiful weather for the opening day of the Napier Park Autumn Mooting, aud a large attendance, Tito cour3o was in splendid condition. The sum of £5,879 was put tli rough tlio totnlisator. In .the Handicap Hurdles Secrecy fell, the jockey (G. JIopo) sustaining injuries. Ho was admitted to the Hospital, where the doctor found his injuries, wore not very serious. Results were:— Trial Hukdi/es -Rainbow (Banks), 1; Rhino, 2; Gor.se, 3. Velocity was , scratched. Toriki fell, - and Flirt pulled up. Won by a length and a half. Time, 3min 25 3-ssoc; divi'dend, £10 9s ' • SArLiNG Stakes.—Picklock 9, St. ; . Conon 2, Daunt 3. Three others ran. Won by a head. Time, lmin •I 4-ssecs; dividend, £4 18s. Pauic Cin>.—The Shrew, I; Daystar, 2; Strathbraan 3. Lotion was scratched. Daystar held a haudy position right through the race, aud entering the straight first; seemed to have everything beaten, but Derritt brought The Shrew with a marvellous run, and snatched a victory on the post by a long head, Strathbraan just boating Ilaria for third place. Golden Plover was left badly at tho post. Timo, 2miu<Ki 4-ssecs. Dividend, £6 2s, ' lluitWiKs —Tally-ho 1, Prince Charlie 2, Tenbv 3. Five' others ran. Secrecy and Headford foil.
