Berry, editor of the Herald, waited upon Mr Carroll in reference to tho how regulation, by which; the police are prohibited from ( giving information to tho Press. Tho l unwisdom of tho course was repretho Hon. gentleman. Mr parroll said ho would ascertain what t io true effect of tho order was, aud tu to tho mutter in hand andropresent what had beon placed beforo himto hiß colleagues. So far as he was concerned, ho did not seo why publicity should not bo given lo any'; erimo or iittemptod crimo. 1
