A MELBOURNE SENSATION.

Melbourne, August !l A sensation has been caused in Balliirafc by fcbo arrest of a girl named Bones, agod JB, tlio daughter of a well-known land and estate agent, on a charge of forging a chequo for £374 on her father, and uttering it. Sho cashed the choque at the Union Bank, but the manager suspecting the sifnature was 1 not genuine sent for Mr Bones, with the result that it was proved that the cheque was a forgery. Tho girl in the course of conversation incriminated a young man named Warner, a clerk, to whom sho was affianced, and declared that he induced hor to forgo her fathers signature to tho cheque, which ho filled in for tho amount named. Warner has been arrested.
