The victims were six, i five, and three years of age. 1 Brown's wife recently left him on 1 account of neglect and ill-treatment j and since then he lias been drinking i heavily. It is believed he intended to kill 1 her also. r He gave ■as the reason for his mad act that it was to prevent the chil- { dren suffering.
