THE DEAN MURDER.
THE "HUSBAND ACQUITTED,
THE WIFE COMMITTED'.
(per press association.)
Lweuoakgill, Jnne 8. - At llio Magistrate's Court, MrPoynton. S.M., committed Minnie Dean for trial for the murder of Dorfchy Edith Carter, and discharged Charles Dean. He said there was no evidence at all against the latter and that he left-the court without a stain on his character The police were however justified in arresting him as they did not know what evidence might crop up. He thought a l ,'here the husbaud and wife , lived together and the bodies were found buried in their garden, it was quite within reason that the police should suspect the husband of being cognisant, and had thsre been any evidence against him. at all he would certainly have committed him. "Mr',s Hanlon, solicitor for the -accused, admitted that the police acted fairly, and ' were entitled to credit for the way iu. which they worked up the case. Dean ■ shook hands with his solicitor and left his wife to be tried at the sitting of the Supreme Court, opening on Tues- • day next.
