CHARITABLE AID BOARD.

The usual monthly meeting of tho Chin itablo Aid Board wa3 held last night, when there were prosent—Messrs Killsour (chairman), McFarlane, Foy, Radford, and McEnteer.

The minutes of tho previous meeting were read and confirmed.

OniNEituHi County Council —Mr N. Kenny, Clerk of this body, forwarded a cheque for £9 14.? 7d as contribution to the 1 oard.—Received.

' Resignation op Mr McWihiahs— The following letter was read from Mr John MoWillinras;—"l beg most respectfully to tender my resignation as caretaker of the Old Men's Home. I find that I am not strong enough to perform my duties as they should be done. I am sorry to be compelled to do this as the Board has been very kind to me, for which lam vary thankful."—Mr McFarlane moved that Mr McWilliaras' resignation bo accepted with re&ret.— This was seconded by fllr McEnteer, and carried.—lt was further resolved: " That applications be called, returnable at the next meetingof the Board, for a married couple, without encumbrances, to fill positions of master and matron respectfully of the Old Men's and Old Women's Homes at Tararu, at the joint salary of £50 a year."

Treasurer's Statement.—Tho Troasurci's sfcn teiiidit showed that the Board 's receipts for the past month amounted to £824 7s 3d, and its oxpondifcnre to £295 Itis, leiving a credit balance of £88 1J j 3d. OipMen's Home --Tho secretary (Mr A. Brucv) submitted the following report Wm. Kent aged 72 died on tho 27 ultimo. Kent was' admitted front Ooromandel on the 2nd of June 1890. The cause of death was senile decay. The number'of inmates at present is 23 all of whom are in fairly good health. A start was made this morning in the erection of tho boundary fence, it will consist of 4 pig proof galvanised barbed wiro ond 2 plain do. with Puriri posts each nine feet, At Xmas the following donations wore received, Mr McGowan, tobacco; Mr W. Thompsoncoufeotion' jery; Mr Humphries, tobacco.
