SENSATIONAL DIVORCE CASE

Melbourne, February 23. A sensation at. dirorce suit was heard today by Mr Justice Williams, on the pofcition of Johannes Coruelious De Goey for the dissolution of his marriage wirh Amy Elizabeth De Goey, on the .ground of misconduct with ; Henry"Cariv a.contrac" tor. ■ The parties were married in March 1883. and lived .happily together until 1887,* when Oarr was introduced into their home. On October 12th; 1892, petitioner accused his wife of impropriety j with the co-respondfinfi. She confessed i to having been unfaithful , ' since -1887. An affidavit from the wife of co-respon-' dent, who bad intervened, statedr.that the petitioner, knew of the' intimacy existing between his wife and co-.respbn-dent, and that after the '.latter, had leftthe house petitioner-would deraand'from his wife the moneywhich co-respondent gave her. .Respondent and co-respondent left Mel bourne "iu October last as inan I and wife, on; a trip to Adelaide, and on ! their return an arrangement was made between the'parties, which was put .in in writing, as ■' follows:—" Eeceived from H. Oarr the sura.of £1500 as compensation in full for the loss of my wife, niy homo, and two children, which I thought were mine; arid' I Will , not trouble H. Can , any more in future; (Signed) J. 0. DflGoey." .The affidavit further, stated that the petitioner returned to live with his wife, and that slie was frequently, visited byco-respnndonfi with the knowlodge of petitioner, ;; .Tlio parties did not appear.
