ATTEMPTED MURDER OF A WIFE.

■ Brisbane. October 17. A woman known as Emily Emmerson, but whose real name was Emily Woodward, was shot by. her husband, George Henry Woodward, of Samson's Vale, near Brisbane, at the Commercial Hotel, Roma, where the former was staying pending taking a situation as a'domestic on a station. Woodward arrived at Roma by the train from Brisbane, and had breakfast at the hotel, .where he met his wife. !
