COUNTERFEIT COIN.
Auckland, October 17. A number of counterfeit coins (half* crowns) aro in circulation in the city. They are composed of white metal, and ■ require a sixpenny and threepenny bit ndded in the scale to make them the same weight as the genuine half-crown. It js rumoured that they are part of a shipment from Germany for " circulation in the colonies," and the handiwork of '• smashers."
