MEETINGS OF COMPANIES.

(By Telegraph—Own Correspondent.) Auckland, July 31. ORLANDO MINE. This morning the annual general meeting of the shareholders of tho Orlando Gold Mining '.Company was held Mr Porter presided. The direotors' report and balanceshoot were adopted. Tho retiring directors, Messrs A. Porter and J. Macfarlano, wore re-elected, also Mr J. Young. Tho mine manager reported in very : favourable terms as to,the prospects of the mine, and stated that the property was in his opinion a very valuable one. The liabilities of ; the company were stated to be iu excess of the assets by £13, the assets being £161 and the liabilities £175. The expenditure for the past year was £1107, and tho receipts £1108. NORFOLK G.M. CO. The annual general meeting of shareholders of tho Norfolk Gold Mining Company was held to-day, the Chairman of Directors (Mr Walter Hall) presiding Tho directors' report and balancesheet were read. ; . Tho mine manager's report detailed tho operations of tho mine during the past year. • I The directors state that a great bulk of tho work done during the year, was dead work, the rosults of which, good or otherwise, have yet to be proved. The preseit indebtedness of the company was owing entirely to such dead work and to the rather poor return from 1486 tons of ore obtained from No. 2 level, and it had been deomed advisable to suspend operations in the said level for tho present, and opan tho mine from the Missonritunnel. This work was believed by the direotors to bo of groat importance in the direction of tho thorough develop*

ing of the mine and intersect reefs, which the mine manager expects to meet with, [he directors were of opinion that there was a strong probability that withiß two months from now ore of a payable character would bo met with. The balance sheet showed the liabilities of the company to be £212145, assets (comprising balance due on calls, battery, raining plant and water race), £1125 3s sd. There are, it was stated, 300 tons of buddle concentrates now [stacked at the battery, but were not included in the assets.
