In connection with the arreat at, Liverpool of the.chief officerand'Steward of the ship Durb'ridge'Vfbr/the,-murder of the captain, the particulars are as follows: On August 8, -1892; : tho body of 'Captain Little was i found in ;hiß;cabin/,on the vessel which had arrived at Newcastle a few days before in ballast from ]$,! Tin chief witness at the inquest > was Jones, the chief steward, who deposed that the captain's continued intemperance on the voyage out, and despondency, had led him on several occasions to attempt suicide, and that assisted by.the chief officer witness had lockod the cabin to prevent him destroying himself. When the body was found ;the matteriwaa reported by the police, and at the inquest the jury returned' a'verdict of suicide through mental trouble. ■ ■< • • ■■.
