The Governor ot Paris publicly thanked and rewarded the soldiers for their conduct in repressing disturbance during the labour demonstrations. ; It will probably be enacted that nine thousand , Government employees in Germany who were absent without leave on the Ist will be dismissed, i ■[■ Not a single arrest for disturbance was made in Vienna.. • DITESTABLISHMENT OP THE CHURCH IN SCOTLAND,; During the debate on the Bill providing for the disestablishment of: the Church of Scotland, Mr Gladstone asserted that the Church was in a minority, and' the burden of pro\iding for its utility rested with its supporters. ! In his opinion ithe .Church in its existing form was not the best embodiment of Protestantism. He would be glad to submit his conduct to the Midlothian electors,. The Marquis of Hartington opposed, and Mr Chamberlain supported the disestablishment,
