Pftrtiuulars of the storm at Hons; Kong on May 29th show that the effects wore most disastrous, the damage is estimated at a million dollars, all business and shipping traffic were stopped, the lower parts of the town were deluged and turned into an immcnso lake. The loss of life was considerable and though tho exact number is not known it is probably not less than fifty, a shed composed chiefly of matting was struck by lightning and .eight of tho occupants killed, some idea of tho nature of storm may be gathered from the iact that in five hours 24 inchos of wator foil, the total rainfall in 3 days was 43 inches.
