Messrs Walker, Nimmo, Lorimer, and Ciithbert have joined the New Victorian Ministry, and the allotment of their respective portfolios takes place to-day. It is considered probable that Messrs Harper, Quick, and Davies will also be included iu the Ministry. A dissolution of Parliament will take place to-morrow, and the general elections have been fixed for tho sth March. Mr Gillies has announced that he will issue his electoral manifesto to-morrow.

lency the GovernorMr Gillies, Premier; Colonial Treasurer and Commissioner of Roads and Railways, MrDraken; Colonial Secretary, Mr Wixon; Attorney-General, Mr Don ; Minister of Lands and Agriculture, and Minister of Mines, Mr Pearson; Minister of Public Instruction, MrNimmo; Commissioner of Public Works, Mr Cuthbert; Minister of Justice, Mr Lorimer; Minister of Defence, &c., Mr Dawes. It is believed Mr Harper will be appointed-to the vacant portfolio of PostmaaterGeneral.

Sydnry, Thursday. It is announced that the Cable Companies have agreed to the terms demanded by the New Zealand Government, provided that the subsidy be extended for a period of six years and a quarter, instead of five as offered.

DISSOLUTION REFUSED IN N.S.W.

In the Legislative Assembly to-day the Premier, Sir John Robertson, announced that His Excellency, Lord Carrington, had declined to grant a dissolution of Parliament, and that ministers had decided to place their resignations in the hands of the Governor forthwith. A Supply Bill for £1,020,000 passed through all its stages, after which the Assembly adjourned.
