STEELE DRAMATIC COMPANY.
THEBEwas a very good house at the | Academy of Music last evening on the J occasion of the performance of Mr H. J. Byron's glorious comedy of " Our Boys," Although the piece was played here some time ago by Mr J. L. Hall with much success, last evening it lost none of its freshness and interest at the hands of the Steele Dramatic Company. It was produced in a superior manner, and thoroughly pleased the audience. The principal part—that of Charlie Middlewick—was capitally taken by Mr J. B. Steele, who did thorough justice to it, and brought out the points which the playwright meant should be brought out. Miss Clara Stephenson's impersonation of the character of Mary Melrose was much appreciated, and every point won warm encomiums from the audience. The lady dressed the part well, and acted without a single perceptible fault. The Violet Melrose of Miss Marie Wilton was a first-clas? impersonation, and could not have been surpassed, and the lady fully sustained the.favourable impression she created on Saturday evening, Mr O'Brien's Talbot Champneys was really a capital rendition of the lisping youth who had run away from home and lived together with Charlie Middlewiok (Mr Steele) in a London garret until forgiven by his father. Mr Thompson was very successful as Sir Geoffrey Champneys, and Mr K. D. Haygarth won golden opinions for his impersonation of Perkyu Middlewiok, the retired bntterman. Miss Grace Hathaway made a fair Belinda. Miss Julia Hudson was loudly applauded for her excellent rendering of the charac' ter of Clarissa Champneys. The burlesque of Aladdin concluded the eveningsamusement. It was well played and afforded much food for mirth. To-night this talented company will make their last appoarance, when the celebrated drama " Tried for Life" will be producod. The piece had a splendid run in Loudon, and will no doubt draw.
