The directors of the Commercial Banking Company of Sydney Lave decided to call a meeting of the shareholders to authorise an. increase of the capital of the Bank from £500,000 to £600,000.

The full despatch of Sir Michael Hicks-Beach to Lord Normanby is published. It dismisses the idea of conferring uncontrolled supremacy to the .Assembly. It condemns the tactics that had formerly been resorted to, and expressed the conviction that no plan had been shewn for the proposed Imperial legislative interference, which ho deemed free from objection. Sir M. Hicks-Beach hardly anticipated that Parliament would consent to disturb, at the instance of the Colonial Assembly, the settlement embodied in the Constitution Act, unless the Council refused to concur in reasonable proposals for the regulation of the future relations' between the two Houses respecting fiscal matters, and, after an appeal to the constituencies had ratified the proposals of the Assembly. Parliament meets on July Bth. The Treasurer lias notified the Associated Bank that the Government may withdraw their balances six months hence. Adelaide, Friday.
