THAMES HOSPITAL COMMITTEE.

The usual fortnightly meeting of the Hospital Committee was held yesterday. The Vice-President (His Worship the Mayor) occupied the ohair; and there were present: The Eevs R. 8. Bunn, J, T. Hinton, Messrs Ehrenfried, Eenshaw, Davies, Miller, : MoGowan, Ahier, j. Hudson, J. Wilson, and T.'W. Gudgeon. The minutes having been read, apologies for absence were received from the Bev S. J. Neill, Rev V. Lash, Messrs Frater, Mulligan, Comer, Mollhone, and Major Murray. ; ' ' Old Men's Bbftob.—The Chaibman, itated that he had reoeived a, telegram rom the Hon Mr Sheehan that the sum if £4flo promised on behalf of the Eefuge rould at once be placed in: the hands of, lirK.WPuckey. ■ _ !■.,;.." :

•The Houss Committee's Bepom statec that they, had examined the monthlj accounts (£92 16s), arid recommended them for payment j that ther.e' bad beet presentedto the hospital .a. large, baste] of,buns from the Grahamstown VTesleyai Sunday-school. Donations of peaohes from Mrs ihihrenfried, Mr ; Waters,' Mi ,-Ashbyi Mr Mason; and Mr;& Blaokjand a parcel'of: clothing from Mr Leo; that the cook, William Swindells, had-ten-deredhis resignation; that it isi desirable some improvement in ttie'drainage 'should be made; and that the' general, conduot 'of the officers and inmates has been satis-factory.--The Bev. Mr Bunn hoped, considering the hot weather, that something would be done to remedy the bad drainage.—After it had been resolved to refer these matters to the incoming house committee, and to return thanks for the donations of fruit, clothing, &0,,' the report was : adopted. ■

The House Subgeon reported that the condition; of the hospital daring the month has remained nearly the same as its predecessbr; that the number of patients is slightly lower; that no. death has occurred; that the nurse, Mrs Lawrenoe, had applied to him for an increase of wages at the rate of 5s per week; arid as she had discharged her duties with unwearied assiduity he recommended the application favourably,-* The report hav. ing been received, it was agreed to grant the nurse's application for increase of salary.—The report was then adopted. Bobotoh Bepbbsentation, — The Chairman asked the Secretary whether ho had notified the Borough Council that the rules had been altered so that they were allowed to have two representatives on the oommittee.—The Seoretary said it would be no use notifying the Council, as they could not take aotion before the annual meeting of hospital subscribers in April next.

FiNANOE.-The Seoretary read (in ro» ply to a Government circular) the follow* ing statement for the half year ending 31st December: —Beceipts: Eeceipts from endowments, nil; receipts on account of patients, £56 10s 6d j subscriptions and donations, £239 10s lOd; subsidies from Government, £500; grant by Borough of Thames, £280; Total, £1,066 Is 4d. Expenditure: Salaries and Commission, £372 6s 9d; rations, fuel and light, £20416s 2d; furniture and Ettings, £7 4s lid; medicine and medical comforts, £6213s 8d; bedding and clothing, nil; printing, advertising and stationery, £719s_j burial expenses, £6 7s; repairs and alterations to buildings, £8 4s; incidental expenses, £6 0s 8d; insurance, £5; land for building • for . Kefuge, £280; Total, £96012s 2d.-B. Hokiu, Seoretary and Collector.

The Secbbhby.—Mr Davibs said it appeared to him that the Secretary had of late a great deal of extra work to do in consequence of the replies to the Government circulars, aud he gave notice of motion that the committee at their meeting consider the desirability of increasing that officer's salary. House SußflEON.—The Eev. S, J. Neill, Messrß Comer, Davies, and Mollhone, were appointed the House Committe for the ensuing month.
