Auckland, Tuesday. H.l.M.'s wabship ' Ariadne,' which arrived in Auckland yesterday) brings private advices from London to state that Governor Gordon, of Fiji, returns with increased powers The Rev. S. W. Davis, of the London Missionary Society, has arrived at Samoa. The wife of Captain Turnbull suddenly recovered her sight after ten years' blindness. Her recovery was caused by the shock sustained in falling down a flight of stairs.

Intelligence has been received of the death of Captain Haseneflug. formerly of the German warship ' Augusta.' A Peru Island native has been eaptured for the murder of his wife.

In a quarrel between natives revolvers, knives, and axes were used, and two men were fatally wounded, Intelligence has been received that at Pentecost Island the natives killed a European and two natives of the schooner 'May Queen.' The crew of the 'Beagle' and the schooner' Sybil' landed to punish the murderers, The mate of the ' Sybil 1 came suddenly u.pon three natives. The third aimed a violent blow at the mate's head, which he partly warded off with a Snider, receiving a severe scalp wound. The mate drew his revolver and hit the native between, the eyes, but the ball glanced off.
