CHINA NEWS.
(PER 8.9. 'AUSTRALIA,') (PEE FBESS AGENCY.) [deceived at Cooktown from Hongkong.] Hoffman, Clerk of tho Court of Hongkong, has been sentenced to seven years for embezzlement. Fifty-three Japanese have been sentenced to death for mutiny at Takio. Son Chow, second city of Hainan, has been seized by twenty thousand rebels. The officials fled, and the city was pillaged and numbers massacred. Mr Pope Hennessy's leniency to Chinese criminals is censured. Arnold Pagin, American geologist, has been engaged to prospect North China fot gold.
