Anne Yesey, of the ship 'Chile' , notoriety, appeared to answer a charge of assaulting Eliza Bradburn, her neighhour. The magistrate did not consider the evidence sufficient to substantiate the charge, and dismissed it. _ : The provisional reception committee to-day received a telegram from Sir Geo.. Grey stating that it was yet uncertain when the members: would leave. The meeting to arrange the reception has been postponed. 7he Koyal Oak Company's mine man* . ager reports that from the left-hand branch of No. 3 reef he obtained 30lbs of specimens from the cross-cut on the Little and Good reef. Nothing has been done on the left-hand branch proper. During the week he has been preparing a drive for the tramway and opening the manway from No. 5 pass to Wo. 2 ladder on No. 3 reef. Good crushing dirt is obtained from N6. 2 reef. The ground in the low level is getting harder. About lOOlbs of picked stone is on hand. The Tokatea @mpany's manager reports having let on tribute three men's ground at the northern end of the mine. The contract for ; driving 200 feet on the Yanlevel isjnished, and another contract for another extension of 200 feet is let at the same price, 20s per foot. • This drive is now 1,650 feet long. The slopes continue to yield first-class crushing stuff, and the paddock is chock full. The. new engine is half-way: up the Government line,of tramway. They have 93ozs of retorted gold for the fortnight. The ground in No. 7 level is very hard. The Union Boach Company's _ mine manager reports the total quantity of specimens on hand lOllbs.
