Chief Justice, Prendergast.issued a rule ofthe Court tins'morning ; for a special sitting of the Court in reference to the letter senttohim:by Mr G. E. : Barton, and in which he complained of the Judge's treatment of him, : and informed him that he had asked the Government.for ah enquiry. The Chief Justice said he had the Registrar's affidavit to the Court proving the authorship of the letter. He therefore -ordered G. E. Barton, barrister, and writer of the letter, to-attend at ten o'clock on Monday next to answer for his contempt of Court, and in order that the Court might'pass such judgment upon him as might-seem fit. : . •_.• A meeting was held to-day, at which it was resolved to have a public demonstration previous to Sir Julius Vogel's leaving the-colony, and to'present'him on the occasion with a suitable testimonial; AH classes are invited to join in the movement. •,, -T ■
