TAIRUA GOLD MINING COMPANY (LIMILTED.)
To the Editor OftllO THAMES ADVERTISER, Sin,—l liave read .a letter in your last week's paper signed "A Shareholder" I can scarcely see the drift of it, unless it means a general growl at somebody or anybody. The reference to Air .Sully. I I presume that gentleman will reply to; if not, as shareholder correctly states; he (Sully), a director of the company, actually living on the olaim, seems not to have been aware of facts, and has urged other directors on to extensive contracts etc. Now, it. is improper to infer motives, but we are all human. Sully and Gillett were storekeepers j Gillett supplied, no doubt, many articles to the claim and its contractors, as also, to wit, the champagne lunch on opening of small battery, and unlesß Mr Bully explains I would not give much for his 20 years' mining experience, more especially if lie was a director at the time, and never went down the shaft or troubled himself about the. mine as "A Shareholder" would imply. ; How on Monday next, thel7th instant,-there is to be a general meeting of shareholders held at, Auckland, and I would advise " A Shareholder" to attend it, also as many Thames shareholders 'as possible;and ask the questions he wishes. If, as ho says, that the ings at Tairua were purposely kept from the town directors (which I begin to suspect), it reflects on. the Thames directors, Messrs -Ehrenfried, Sully, and Jackson. These,. lam informed, are the directors who entered into the' contracts these are 'the directors who made arrangements, and oaused the overdraft at the Bank of; Now Zealand; these are the directors who, haying the voting: power, ruled tho affairs of the company, and when they thought the ship leaky, like rats, left her. 1 challenge them, one and all, to attend Mondsy s meeting, and if Mr JBeecho has any consideration for himself, it is his duty also to attend, as I myself intend to ask some questions, and I hope to sec a goodly number of Thames shareholders present. —Fours, &c., Shareholder No. 2,
