Sib, —I Lad the honour to be'present at the above meeting, held at the Governor Bowen Hotel on the evening of tho 16th instant, Mr Mclrityre : in. the: chair, and as there were no; reporters present perhaps you will accept and; insert the following, 1 that the shareholders arid tup public may know how the business 1 is carried.on :--AUHe : meeting,'were twelves shareholders; four of whom werediroctors, viz.* Messrs Fryer,; MbTntyre, Turtle, and GarveyVMr F?a(;er,was to be one. iThe.firsb.business,,was;:to hear re-, ports and balance-sheets, i which were read; and in which was an item of £50 as an; honorarium to the; directors for six' months, which item'was- very justly referred to, and proposed that for thppresent it be struck.put,-which was['seconded- and put to'the meeting,-when, to. pur.utter astonishment, the only." hands' held up against it were the honorable gentlemen, in receipt of it.
