His foot slipped whilo making a blow, and the axe descended on his left foot, cutting one too off' and splitting the foot as far as the instep. Dr. Goldsboro' attended tho sufferer,'and ho says if tho bleeding, breaks out afresh, Wallace must go to the Hospital, or hi 3 lifo will be in danger. The football team left by tho s.s. 'Hawea* to-day. By the latest weather report from Onohunga, a south-west wind will prevent her crossing the bar to-night. In tho Supremo Court to-day, Mr Bees applied, on behalf of Mr Lockhart, for an order of the Court to set asido an order made in Chambers for tho sale of goods comprised in a bill of sale to Lockhart, which goods wero in Mr Bartlett's order andLdisposition at the time of his bankruptcy. Tho application was refused. • Mr Bees, for tho plaintiff in tho suit for libel, Cecilia Allen Vr the Southern Cross, showed causo against the rule nisi obtained by Mr Bennett, solicitor, at the last sitting to sot asido :servico of summons and tho rule admitting himself to prosecuto as tho next friend of plaintiff. After arguing the Judge made a rule absolute.—A little girl named Howen fell into tho mud off the wharf to-day head .first. She presented a piliable 'spectacle . whon recovered, but was not much hurt.—Casey's new steamor, the ■ 1 Minnie Casey,' had a trial trip to-day. She made a very good pace of nearly ten knots. Her macliinory worked well. Tho boat is to take the place of tho p.s.
