MR G. V. STEWART'S PARTY.

The final inspection of the passengers in this ship was mado yesterday by officials representing tho Imperial and Colonial Governments, and was very satisfactory. On mustering all appeared in excellent health, and very happy and comfortable. They seemed quite familiar wilh tho arrangements, and at dinner and lea hours, when tho mess numbers wcro called, tho responses wero mado with great, alacrity. Thero is an unusually largo number of first and second cabin passengers, and tho latter "mess" exactly as do those in tho stoerage, being divided into parties of eight persons, one of whom receives the cooked previsions and distributes them among llic " mess." Some of the young ladies anticipate amusing occupation as caplain of their mess, and no doubt the duties will help ta beguile tho tediousness of so long a voyage. Tho 'Carisbrook Castle' is a haudsomoi.and commodious ship, and elegantly furnished in her principal cabins, tho second cabins and stccrago

being plainly but comfortably fitted and well lighted and ventilated. Slio is provided with eight boats, and with all tho requirements of tho Board of Trado for tho prevention of accidents. In tho course of tho inspection orders wcro unexpectedly given by Captain Smith, N.N., to lower certain boats, and tho oelority with which tho order was oboyed was highly oreditablo to tho officers and crow. At another stage, an alarm -was!given of " a man overboard,"' when instantly lifebuoys wcro thrown out in tho supposed direction, a boat manned and lowerid, tho buoys picked up, and tho boat in her place in a vory 'few 'minutes, Soon afterwards an alarm of tiro, was raised, whon tho crew fell into thoir quarters, tho cngiuo and hoao lhahnqd, armod men placed at tho hatchway.", and means adopted for extinguishing tho supposed fire." It is intended that theso mancoiivros shall occasionally bo rcpcatod during tllo voyage for tho purposo of maintaining diseiplino among tho orow, and inspiring confidonco among tho passengers. Tho New Zealand Shipping Company, by whom this ship is bhartored for tho voyage, hav.o spared no cxponso in endeavouring to givo satisfaction to tho passengers. Tho provishning is on tho most liberal scale, 1 and tho abundant supply of livo stock, consisting of shcop, poultry, &o, indicates tho desiro of tho charterers that nothing shall bo wanting on-thoir part to promote tlio comfort of tho passengers, Iho " cloaring "of tho ship was not completed till nearly nino o'clock, when, most of the pissengers being assembled on deck to bid good-byo to their friends, Mr G. V. Stowart, asconding tho poop ladder, expressed, on behalf of himself and his fellow-voyagers, tho extreme satisfaction which thoy felt by tho completeness of tho arrangemouta which had beon mado for them, and moved a vote of thanks to Captain Smith, ItiN"., tho Now Zealand Government officer, under whoso su perin'.cndeuco tho arrangements wcro under, when tho hearty cheers of tho passengers expressed their oordial .concurrence,' Captaiu Smith in replying, gavo somo exoellent counsel to tho passengers os to tho moans 'of preserving thoir health during tlio voyago, and making tho passage agreeable. The usual hjearty ohcers for Mr Samuel Cochrano tho local agent for Wow Zealand Governindut emigration, wero given, and messages sent to tho " peoplo of Belfast" that tho passengers of tho ' Carisbrook Castle' wero leaving homo hopeful and happy, 'j ho officials and visitors having ombarked in tho 'Shamrock' about 9,30 p.m : , parting cheers wero exchanged,'and orders given to preparo tho ' Carisbrook Casllo'i'or sea. Whilo it is a subject of much regrot that our country is losing so many persons of tho class which havo embarked in tho 'Carisbrook Castle,' it will bo a sourco of satisfaction that tho voyago of this ship has commenccd so auspiciously, Tho ship is said to bo ono of tho finest afloat, and Captain Freebody, who commands her, .is worthy of tho ship. Tlio puhlio will watch tho result of this adventuro with much interest, and tho voyagers carry with them hearty good wishes for their .success in tho now " Stowartsettlement" of Kali-Kali, W/iiji Juno 8,
