Diiunkenness,—Henry Holman wns charged with being drunk and incapablo in Kyro-strcot.—lio pleadod guilty, aud was fiued 10s or 24i hours' imprisonment. —Ellen Duncan was charged with being drunk and incapable.—Sho said sho had a litllo driuk, but was not drunk.—Tho offenco was proved by Constable llauly, who doposcd that when ho : arrested her sho was very drunk.—Fined 10s or 2<l hours' imprisonment. — Sho was also charged with a breach of tho Vagrant Act by being a habitual drunkard, having been threo times convicted of drunkonness within 12 monlhs.-Defendant pleaded that her husbojid was away, and her children wcro by themselves, and begged to bo let off. Her husband was in Tairua. —Mr Bullou said thcro was no man moro to be pitied than this woman's husband, who was an industrious, hard-working man. Sho had been repeatedly imprisoned, and thcro was a largo list of previous convictions against her. -Accused said if sho was lot off to her children sho would never como before tho Court again.—His Worship sentenced her to 7 days' imprisonment, False Pjikiences.—Henry Smith was brought up ou warrant ohargod with obtaining corlain goods, valuo £1 10s, from ono Benjamin Greenwood by falsa protonces, aud with intent to dofraud, on or about 28th April, 1876.—Mr Tyler, for defendant, pleaded not guilty, and .asked for a remand until Saturday. Thiro was a witness in Tairua whom they wished to procure.—Mr Bullen said that ho was > quito prepared to go on with tho case, but would offer no objection to tho remand. Tho caso was remauded until Saturday,— Mr Tyler asked to havo tho dofendant admitted to bail, and after explaining tho circumstances of tho caso, his Worship allowed bail, himself aud ono surity, £10 cach.
