CORRESPONDENCE.

I FUNERAL BEFOBM. To the Editor of (lie Thames advektiseb, Sir, —If the newspaper proprietors of the 'lhames have to pay for that long telegram about funeral reform down South they are certainly entitled to the sympathy of the public, as, excepting the hatbands, little, if any, of the useless ; trappings therein denounced have been ; introduced here, but a "reform" .of another kind is much needed, and that at once, for every wintei* a scene occurswhich must certainly be painful to all who have the misfortune to witness it, I allude to the.difficulty of getting a hearse round the corner by the ilape Hotel. The piece of road (only two or threechains) from that spot to the creek has never been metalled, and in the wet season is a complete slough. The road beyond is bad enough, but is nothing compared with thi9 little piece. Will the Press lay the public under a further obligation, by using its powerful lever to help in bringing this matter under the immediate notice of the powers that be.— • . G.
