LEPPERTON.

FROM OtJE OWN CORBESPONHENIi Noy.' 14.—1 n reading our Inglewood correspondent’s notes in Saturday evening’s Herald I, notice, in connection with the King’s wish, also that of the Prime Minister of this Dominion, with regard to the' armistice, that the Ingle- . wood school children were assembled after recess and stood quietly for the two minutes, after a ,short addre-ss from the headmaster (Air. Thomas) in connection with the memory of our glorious dead. How very fitting indeed was .this. What -a great opportunity tho teachers of our public schools had of a few minutes’ talk to the children away from their ordinary work—the fact, too, of an unknown" soldier being buried in ' the historic Westminster Abbey, the mere ordinary soldier being placed on the same level as the ,great man of fame. As, above stated, it was a great opportunity of explaining and interesting tho rising generation in this matter. All honour to the Inglewood School, and. other schools who did likewise. I much. regret to say, as far as the Lepperton public school was ; concerned, the-occa-sion passed quite unnoticed. The'sama thing happened last year. I am always delighted to applaud Lepperton and all our doings, but in this case, in common with many parents, feel that we havei failed miserably. , i. . There is, a turn in the tide of the affairs of the weather this morning, which has been decidedly lean of'late, • and we are thankful for small mercies, to say the least. Lepperton, in common with the rest of Taranaki, has been deeply grieved at the recent sad fatality in New Plymouth, and a full measure of sympathy goes out from our people to those bereaved.-- Tlie late Aliss Warnock was a niece of Air. H. B. Lemper, of this place. The form of service is now out for the unveiling of the district memorial on Sunday week, November 28,, at 2.30 p.m., when the speakers will includfe Colonel Weston, D. 5.0., Air. A. H. Gould, and the Revs. Lawrence and Gavin. It is hoped the combined choirs of the parish will assist with the music. I understand Dean Al'Kenna has also been invited to be present.
