WAITARA.
FROM OCR OWN CORRESPONDENT.
November 15.—At tho Slart on Saturday woaners and slips realised from 18s to 37s Gd, potatoes 10s a sack, a fine-looking half-draught horse was allowed to change owners at 5J guineas. Everybody is grumbling about tho weather, but no one tries to alter it. Sunshine is badly wanted to put a little vigour and vim into vegetation. A deputation waited on the borough council to ask that body to lend a hand in stopping tho erosion that is taking place on the banks of tho river immediately above the bridge, and which is threatening tho town cm one side and the recreation reserve on tho other. A good deal of the reserve has already disappeared, and tho approach to it from tho town is now only possible through private property. The council will back np morally any efforts that arc made, and Mr. Jennings has been asked to see what ho can do in tho way oh inducing tho Government to stay tho errant waters. Mr. G. Brough’s cheque for recovering the body of the man found in tho river was £3o,' not £lO. Tho memorial windows in. St. Mark’s Church, Lepperton, rro to be consecrated on Friday’next.
