BOY SCOUTS.

ST. MARY’S TROOP. We are pleased to say that our concert, held last Wednesday night, proved a complete success. There was a very good attendance of parents, as well as others who are interested in us. The sum of £2 6s was raised by admission of 3d and 6d. Quite a number of parents have congratulated us upon our displays of drill, ambulance and signalling, as well as the other items rendered oy the boys. We are indebted to the' Misses Sole and Scout Hawkins, of the To Henul Troop, for musical items rendered by them. Scoutmaster Goldsworthy, accompanied by Assistant-Scoutmaster Haggard, of the Te Henui Troop, have gone to Hawera for the purpose of making arrangements for our proposed Christmas visit. . Our bandsmen, we are informed, can “strike up” with the National Anthem, and are now learning some marcjiing tunes. ... Now that we have finished with concerts, for a while at least, we are getting down to our proper work, such as badge passing, etc., and ;before very long we want to see every boy-in the troop with one or more badges. We are now in a position to secure capable instructors, so that the boys will- be put through their test in first-class order.

Towards the end of our last meeting two more new boys were enrolled, and we have nearly half of our new troop formed. Who is going to fill the vacancies for us ? Remember, boys who want to be enrolled can come along to the hall, ■ opposite the church, on Wednesday, Thursday or Friday nights between 7 and 9 o’clock. We regret to state that Sergt.-Major M'Gahey is ill at present, but we hope to see him about again before long.
