At Whangamomona on the 6th we conducted our monthly sale in conjunction with the New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Co. The yarding was small and of poor quality, but there was good inquiry, everything sold with the exception of 1 pen of 4-year bullocks, 4 and 6-tooth wethers 27s 6d to 365, store cows £6 2s 6d, yearling steers £3 19s, 2-year steers £6 7s, £6 16s to £7 10s, * 3-year steers £9 10s, bulls £3, empty heifers £6 7s 6d, dairy cows £5. Waiwakaiho Bull Fair.—On Rio Bth bulls came forward quite up to advertised numbers. Buyers were in attendance from all parts of Taranaki and also from the Waikato. Pedigree Friesian and Shorthorns were well represented in numbers and in quality, but with several exceptions were very hard to quit. All pedigree Jersey bulls were sold at the pedigree Jersey sale, the preceding day, grade bulls sold very well. Other breeds also sold well, vendors’ reserves being obtained in nearly every case. Alfred Buckland and Sons, Ltd., report : We held our annual bull sale at Pukekohe last Thursday, and penned 235 bulls. There was a largo attendance of buyers, and a keen demand throughout, Jerseys and Shorthorns meeting wiith a free sale. Only nine head failed to change owners. Pedigree Jerseys sold at from 24gns. to 78gns., pedigree Shorthorns 2ogns. to 35gns., best grade Jerseys 25gns. to 37gus., other Jerseys 12gns. to 23gns., best grade Shorthorns 20gns. to SOgns., other Shorthorns lOgns. to 18gns., small hulls 4gns. to Bgns. On Wednesday at our weekly Westfield fat stock market wo penned beef to the number of 408, comprising 288 steers, 115 cows and heifers, and 5 bulls. There was a steady demand and, in some instances, last week’s values ruled, but taking the sale on the whole prices were slightly lower. Ox, extra choice to £3 ss, choice and prime £2 19s to £3 Bs, ordinary and plain £2 12s to £2 16s, rough beef £1 15s to £2; cow and heifer beef, £2 5s to £2 15s per 1001 b. ; heavy prime steers sold at from £25 10s to £2B for cattle from Mr. W. CHRISTCHURCH, Oct. 13, At Addington to-day the demand for all sections of stock, excepting store sheep, was keen, in both beef and mutton it was quite up to last week’s high standard oi values. dtore Sheep. —An increased yarding, the quality not being so good as last week. The bulk were hoggets, which were in weaker demand.
