MURDER TRIAL.

CHARGE AGAINST THORN. ' EVIDENCE OF A SON. Per Press Association. AUCKLAND, Oct. IS. At the Pukekawa murder trial, Philip Sydney Eyre said he was 16 years of age. He had often been out shooting with Thom, who was a. good shot and always fired left-handed. Witness gave evidence as to tho relations between accused and his mother. When witness’ father was not present accused called his mother Atilly. Ho heard accused talking to his mother one day about his father. Accused said he would “murder” him or “kill him,” hut he was not sure exactly what the phrase was. After accused had loft tho farm he called back one Sunday, and complained to witness’ mother that witno-s’ father was talking about hint. This statement she denied, and accused retorted: “Every dog has his day.” Continuing Ids evidence, Philip Eyre said that while his father was away things were \ ery happy in the household. Thorn and Airs. Eyre wore on the best of terms, as were also tho children and Thorn. William Henry Hazard, gun-maker, of Auckland, gave evidence in regard to the two puns he had examined. One had not been fired for at least a month, while the other gun (produced) had boon fired recently, the left barrel more recently tlinn the right. In his opinion tho gun which was fired at deceased was fired by a left-handed person, who stood on a cross piece from the stem to the wall, holding on with his right baud to the window rill.
