HUNGER-STRIKING MAYOR. By Telegraph—Press Assn.—Copyright. LONDON, Aug. 20. M'Sweeney, Lord Mayor of Cork, was sentenced by court-martial to two years. M'Sweeney continues to hunger-strike in Brixton prison, and declares that he will persist regardless of consequences. Sinn Feiners assert that his death would have serious consequences, as M'Sweeney is one of the most popular Republican leaders in the south of Ire-land.—Aus.-N.Z. Cable Assn. CONFLICTS WITH MILITARY. LONDON. Aug. 19. Raiders ambushed a military patrol at Ballyvourney, and killed an officer and wounded four sldiers. A large armed party held up 30 soldiers in a motor lorry at Anasoaul, West Kerry. They disarmed the soldiers; After a sharp fusilade four soldiers were wounded.—Aus.-N.Z. Cable Assn.
