TIIO Statutes Revision Committee of the Legislalivo Council sat throughout to-day to hoar evidence in regard to tho allegation made as to the attitude of the Roman Catholic Church towards marriages cr/jorated according to tho law of tho land and towards children born as tho result of these marriages. The'- business of tho committee was not completed and an adjournment was made until Friday next. P.P.A. DISCUSSION. Per Press Association. TIMARU, August 13. A conference of tho South Canterbury members of tho P.R.A. endorsed tho action of the Council of Churches, Christchurch, in drawing the attention of the-Prime Minister to the policy of the Now Zealand Tablet in undermining the loyalty of Homan Catholics to Britain. Archbishop O’Shea’s denial of the teaching of ids church concerning tho validity of mixed or other Catholic marriages not contracted before a priest was discussed, and quotations wore given from the Roman Catholic pink catechism stating that persons married under such conditions "are not married at all.”
