PICTURE POSTERS.

Sgle by sido with the agitation for stricter censorship of moving pictures there has come a request for the'censorship of posters used in advertising pictures. lu the House to-day Mr. Isitt asked the Minister of Internal Affairs if his attention had been directed to a very objectionable poster.- now appearing in Christchurch, and if ho would take action to prevent such posters being shown. The Hon. Mr. Anderson replied that it was intended to censor all posters before they were issued, and all l advertising matter by way of posters that was brought into the Dominion. When objectionable advertisements appeared it was intended to ask for power to enable action to be taken by tho municipal authorities?. This was better than for action to bo taken by a central authority, as, before action was taken, the damage was done.
The "Minister added that'he was interviewed by the picture-show proprietors recently and gave them fully to understand that tho Government would not tolerate anything objectionable. They had given them their .word that they would prevent any objectionable posters from being displayed.
