BOXING.
AMOUNT OR A PURSE. j Per Press Association. WANGANUI, July 20. A boxing contest between Holland and dabby, which was to Imre taken place on Friday night, has been abandoned. Tho match was originally arranged between Uron and Holland, the purso being £SOO. Urcn is suffering from mumps, and dabby was therefore wired and asked if lie would fight. Holland for £4OO. Clabby wired bis acceptance. This morning Clabby, who arrived last night, declared ho bad not been tware that Uron and Holland were to fight for a £SOO purso, and bo declined, as a matter of principle, to fight for a lesser sum. Both .sales'are adamant, so tho contest has been abandoned.
WANGANUI, Later. It is now stated that ClaJjby, while reiterating his determination not (,■ fight for less than the purse of £S(X offered for the Uren-Holland match, in timated to tho executive that ho Va> willing they should hand £IOO to am local charitable institution they wished.
