THE BUS SERVICE.

CONTROLLING PASSENGERS. In order to overcome the inconvenience caused to , long distance ticketholders for the electric 'mis by being crowded out by short-distance passengers, the New Plymouth Borough Council on Tuesday evening decided that the following method be adopted when there is a large number of wouldbe passengers gathered at the point of departure of the ’bus. iq Devon Street Central;— ' . The driver will regulate ‘the entry of passengers, ticket-holders being given preference over cash passengers. Holders of tickets will be admitted in the following order : Red ticket (4d); buff (3d); blue (2d); white (Id). Cash passengers to be admitted after ticketholders. The Mayor remarked that the Council had to do something as the. ’bus was no longer capable of dealing with the traffic. In reply tp a councillor, the engineer said that_ it was not proposed to inaugurate this system till the electric ’bus again took up the running. Ho also remarked that overloading was very prevalent, and passengers would have to realise that this practice must have a limit.
