THE PEOPLE’S. THEDA- BARA IN “THE FORBIDDEN PATH.” To-night’s big Fox offering presents Theda Bara in her latest Fox superplay, “The Forbidden Path.” In this production Miss Bara has opportunity to display the many facets of her versatility. Director J. Gordon Edwards has achieved a noteworthy result in ‘‘The Forbidden Path.” He has combined a story of unequalled interest with atmospheric detail that is perfect. Tho story of William Fox’s ‘‘The Forbidden Path” concerns the adventures which befall a tenement girl who is suddenly elovatocr to comfortable conditions by employment- as artist’s model. She meets a wealthy young blade who makes love to her, captures hor heart, and refuses to marry her. Her child dies in a snowstorm. The denouement gives Miss Bara some, of tho finest opportunities for acting. Tho bill includes the latest Gazette and the big Sunshine comedy, “A Sdiool(iouseScandal.” EVERYBODY’S. LAST NIGHT OF ‘‘CAUGHT IN THE ACT.” Have you ever been caught in tho act If you have not. you cWi see how it feels to bo caught in the act ofbut never mind what". See Peggy Hyland in her now William Fox picture, ‘‘Caught in the Act.” It is playing at Everybody’s for tho last time to-night. To-morrow the star attraction will bo tho fourth and last of the lumu/rous “Hayseed” features. THE EMPIRE. ‘ MARY PICKFORD IN “THE „ . HOODLUM.” The opportunity of her screen career is afforded Mary Bickford in “Tho Hoodlum,” her second picture from her own studio, released by First National, and she grasps it with both hands, and “delivers the goods.” It might well be termed a picture of contrasts, this romance of the little girl who is heiress to wealth unbounded and snobbery unchecked, and who finds joy and love Ingoing down among tho denizens of the slums, becoming herself a regular street urchin, grimy of face and habiliments, but nith n now, clean soul shining through the dirt. It is only necessary to say that as “The Hoodlum” Miss Pickford gives us unquestionably tho greatest accomplishments of her already unique career. The local season of three nights commences at tho Empire on Thursday night.
