Since the first war loan was Issued in New Zealand the sale of war savings certificates has been continued through the post office. These certificates are .still being issued 1 , and are meeting with a steady demand. This is regarded by the authorities as an excellent means of encouraging thrift and helping to secure the financial stability of the country. People who have not, much money to invest are afiforded a means of placing a small sum on fixed deposit for five or ten years. It has been, suggested that,the issue of certificates might well bo made a permanent feature of the finance of the country. There is a desire to encourage small investors. A step in this direction is in making the Bonds for' the new Government loan £SO instead of £IOO as formerly.
